These or similar questions are often asked at GRI presentations or at sustainability conferences. GRI prevails, but many companies already have established sustainability management systems that must cover a wide range of standards like the declaration of human rights, OECD guidelines, global compact, EHS management systems, ILO conventions or accounting standards.
At first glance, the different standards address individual aspects and are not directly connected. But on closer inspection, guidelines on sustainability policies, management, reporting and assurance can intertwine and even support each other. Based on 15 years of sustainability consulting experience, PE Europe has conducted a study about the common denominator of different wide-spread CSR demands. Goal of the approach is to help companies to come to standard integration instead of managing patchworks.
